Tividale Manager Ian Long is delighted that striker Deqwon Ebanks has decided to remain with the Evo-Stik Northern League Division One South outfit following strong interest from Banbury United.
Ebanks, 19, held talks with Long and Assistant Manager Richard Colwell late on Thursday evening and the ‘Dale boss is happy he’s decided to stay put.
He said “I’m delighted that Deqwon will be staying with us.
“We had a chat with him last night and he made it clear he wished to stay with us even though Banbury United are a level higher than ourselves.
“Like Jordan Archer, Deqwon recognises the potential here and the togetherness shown at this football club from top to bottom.
“Deqwon has all the attributes to be a very, very good footballer.
“He’s a strong, powerful player and I think he’s made the right choice in terms of his career development.”
The former Birmingham City and Hereford United forward is in contention for tomorrow’s game with Stocksbridge Park Steels at The Beeches (KO 15:00) and Long hopes he just concentrates on his football.
“It’s been a tough week for all concerned.
“Having said that, following our conversation with Deqwon last night, the matter is now closed.
“He’s a Tividale player and we need him to concentrate on scoring goals for us on a regular basis.”
