Well it’s been a busy week transfer wise here at Tividale, has it not?
Our first team squad is starting to take shape now and we have a fantastic group of lads here for the new season, I’m sure.
We called for patience when Ross and Phil were initially appointed and much of this work has been going on in the background since the day they were unveiled.
I think it was only fair that we gave Ross and Phil the opportunity to explore potential targets, and we’ve assisted them where necessary, too.
I don’t like to single out individuals but Craig Milligan is a real coup for us. Craig is vastly experienced and will offer the younger players in the squad advice on the field during games – he’s a natural leader who knows the league well.
Talking of younger players, I was delighted that both Shaq Leachman-Whittingham and Desean Martin signed for us for this season, too.
I felt they were a little unfortunate at the back end of last season, as the team were on such a terrific run and they found game time hard to come by.
Desean is a real talent, and he’s physically stronger than the start of the year. He’s good technically and I’d like to think he will have an impact on our midfield positions moving forward.
As for Shaq, he’s a top lad. He did well as an impact player when utilised last season but again he’s still learning and very young. Having said that, I think Shaq has matured a lot over the past few months and he’s fitted in well with the new squad.
Talking of additions, we’ll be announcing a further two signings today at 12:00 on tividalefc.com.
Off the field and we have a further meeting regarding our application for charitable status tomorrow with Helen Trueman.
Helen has worked extremely hard for us over the past 12 months, and I think we’re nearing a conclusion to the application of which we will disclose at the AGM on August 20th.
‘TIVIDALE PRESENTS’ Luke Hatton this Saturday night from 20:00, and believe me this boy is extremely talented. Luke’s a great guitarist so don’t miss out on that evening of entertainment.
Finally, to the most hilarious moment of the week – straight out of the book of the pure ridiculous!
Here we are outside on Tuesday morning, and Mr. Richard Harrison did the honourable thing of getting the watering can out to water the hanging basket on the smoking shelter…..until he tipped water over his own head!!!! 🙂
Let’s just say he won’t be allowed to forget that one any sooner than Leon’s journey home from Blackpool last month…..
On that note, I’m off…..
See you at the bar, Submariners!
Steven.
