FA Cup Second Qualifying Round
Saturday 27th September, 3:00pm kick off
Tividale FC 2 Leek Town FC 2
The Tividale players and staff will feel aggrieved once again about refereeing decisions costing them dear against a quality Leek Town outfit, but few would deny that a draw was the right result in a game that was frantic rather than frilly, but always played in the right spirit. Leek went into half time a goal up but fell behind to a Zac Foster penalty and an 18-yard drive from Mitch Botfield.
The game’s controversy came late in the second half, when a Leek cross was drilled into the arm of Tividale’s Danny Ashton just inside the box, only a yard or two away. Astonishingly a penalty was given, much to the disbelief and frustration of the Tividale dugout and players. The penalty was duly converted, and the score finished 2-2.
The two sides will meet for the third time in eight days in the replay in Leek on Wednesday 1st October.
