There seems to be no stopping Tividale at the moment after the Packwood Road side stretched their lead at the top of the table to an imposing 13 points after pulling off a 3-1 win over Herefordshire side Wellington.
Substitute striker Elliot Hartley had to make an early entry into the game after he replaced the injured Jake Brigdale after just 10 minutes
But Hartley went onto play a key role in Tivvy’s triumph. Hartley fired Tivvy in front on 23 minutes, capitalising after strike partner Demetri Brown had flicked on Darragh Bustin’s dangerous cross.
Wellington struck back through Stuart Davies who delivered a tremendous strike which went beyond the reach of Tivvy goalkeeper Ryan Cheshire. Hartley restored Tivvy’s lead on 61 minutes when he swept home Bradley Welding’s cross and it was Welding who eventually wrapped up the points for Tivvy when scoring direct from a 76th minute free kick.
Tivvy’s prospects improved further following Black Country Rangers surprise 3-2 defeat at home to Wednesfield. Ashley Bellingham bagged a couple of goals for Wednesfield with Remie Birch adding an all-important third goal.
Shrewsbury side Haughmond closed the gap on Rangers to within a couple of points after producing a 4-2 defeat of Dudley Town.
Wolves Casuals couldn’t take advantage after being held to a 2-2 draw at home to Shawbury United.
Pegasus Juniors plundered a precious point after claiming a 1-1 draw at Cradley Town. Dan Danks despatched a 30 yard effort to put Cradley 1-0 in front at the break but Pegasus responded when Ollie Purdy floated the ball home beyond the reach of goalkeeper Ben Manley.
Wem Sports left it late before snatching a 2-1 success over Dudley Sports. Jim Astley sunk Sports with an 88th minute winner.
Callum Briscoe had put the Shropshire side ahead before highly rated Tony Beyei levelled matters. But the match turned in Wem’s favour after Sports had Matt Hanson sent off when the scores were level.
Bewdley Town remain on the coat-tails of the leaders but let two points slip from their grasp after being held to a 2-2 draw by Shifnal Town. Ben Macaulay put Shifnal into a 1-0 lead at half time before Bewdley came out with all guns blazing after the break.
Luke Sidaway levelled from the penalty spot and then put Bewdley in front with a close range effort. Shifnal defended doggedly and then shocked Bewdley with an 87th minute equaliser through Adrian Jones.
AFC Bridgnorth boosted their prospects with a 5-0 thrashing of Smethwick Rangers. Former Bewdley marksman Luke Morris fired Bridgnorth in front by half time.
Atherstone recruit Liam Kurtin cracked home a second goal after the break and that proved the signal for the floodgates to open.
Sam Robinson rifled in a third goal before Smethwick supplied an own goal when a Kurtin shot was mis-placed into the net. Jack Tonks thumped home a fifth goal with five minutes remaining, by which time both sides had been reduced to 10 men.
Bottom side Pershore Town picked up a prized 3-3 draw at Bilston Town Community but still remain at the foot of the table.
