Doodson Sports Cup
First Round
Tuesday 18th November 2014
Tividale FC 0 – 2 Stafford Rangers
This was the fourth meeting between the two sides this season and apart from Tividale’s FA cup replay win there has been nothing between them, The first half of this game was just the same as both defences looked comfortable against attacks that carried little threat. The best chance of the half went to the home side who after a patient build up with some nice passing moves Leigh Downing’s shot went wide.
Half Time:- Tividale FC 0-0 Stafford Rangers
The second half started with a spate of activity when after a Tividale attack broke down Stafford went on the counter and Christian Dacres was left unmarked in the box too slide the ball home past Price on 47 minutes. The goal brought the predictable response from the home side and possibly Tividale should have been level on 56 minutes when Luke Paskin missed the target from a Downing corner. Stafford had a great chance to go two ahead when on 70 minutes Price had to make a double save first beating away Daniel Copes attempted chip and then getting a strong hand to Simon Everall’s follow up. But 2 minutes later they were not to be denied when another ball over the top was met by Cope and he fired past Price. Stafford then comfortably ran down the clock to move into the next round.
