Boldmere St Michaels 3-0 Tividale FC

Nothing back on the plastic

These match report’s may as well be the same every week. All that needs to change is the opposition and the goal scorers. Once again at the end of the game, the Tividale youngster’s have ended up competing well but lacking in those two vital areas of the pitch, the two penalty areas.

On Boldmere’s impressive new 3G pitch, Tividale were the quickest out of the block’s and had the first chance when Dan Smith slipped his marker and played in Nathan Jones but he put his shot wide. Boldmere’s skipper Joe Smith then tried a snap shot from distance that Tividale keeper Luke Kriskinans saved comfortably.  Tividale were still pressing but not really causing the Boldmere defence a lot of problems but in the 19th minute they had another chance but this time it was Chris Bladen who shot wide. Two minutes later the home side were a goal up when from a poor corner Tividale fail to put any distance on their clearance and Smith was this time on target with this shot via the post.

The game then became disjointed with neither team really taking control of the game until the 42nd minute, when after a sweeping passing move from Tividale ended with a neat one two between Jones and Liam Smith resulting in Jones’s shot coming back off the cross bar. Within two minutes Tividale were two down. A Cameron Shaw shot had just been saved by Kriskinans but seconds later he whipped in a cross that Smith met and headed out of the reach of the keeper and into the back of the net.

Half Time:-Boldmere St Michaels 2-0 Tividale FC

With the devastating blow of conceding a second goal on the stroke of half time it would have been easy for the visitors to just roll over, but they carried on trying to play and create chances. On 50 minutes a Jones cross was palmed away by Boldmere’s keeper Lewis Feeney and he got just enough on it to divert it away from Dan Smith at the back post.  After that initial scare Boldmere settled into the game and with the two goal advantage looked quite comfortable as Tividale failed to put any pressure on them.

Possibly the best chances fell to home striker Stuart Capaldi who first of all could not cash in on a poor clearance from the Tividale keeper and put his shot from 35 yards high and wide with the keeper nowhere to be seen. On 75 minutes he was given the freedom of the Tividale third but he again put his shot well over the bar.  Tividale were close to halving the deficit on 87 minutes when Chris Hill headed against the post but immediately Boldmere broke and while the visitors again failed to clear their lines Joe Lyng calmly stroked the ball home from 8 yards to complete the scoring.
