Tividale lack sparkle at Rocester![]()
On the afternoon of bonfire night Tividale started the game with a bang but in the end it fizzled out as they slipped to defeat at Rocester.
Tividale went ahead after 15 minutes when from a corner a Craig Stevens volley was blocked on the line but the rebound came straight back to him and this time he made no mistake smashing the ball home.
Rocester were level within two minutes when Martin Smyth beat Tividale keeper Luke Kriskinans with a long range effort. Tividale carried the game to their hosts and were unlucky on 25 minutes when a Stevens free kick came back off the inside of the post, with Rocester keeper Richard Froggatt a spectator. Froggatt was called into action again on the half hour this time turning a Dan Smith shot around the post as they looked for the second goal.
Half Time :Half Time :- Rocester FC 1-1 Tividale FC
Tividale were punished for not cashing in on their first half supremacy when on 49 minutes due to a lack of communication Matt Hunt’s back header beat keeper Kriskinans who had come out to collect the ball and was standing next to Hunt as the ball went past him.
Tividale carried on pressing and were unlucky when a Smith scissor kick cleared the ball. The game turned in the 75th minute when the Tividale penalty curse seem to strike again. From a Rocester free kick, the ball was played into a Rocester forward who seemed to fall over while backing into his marker and the referee awarded a penalty that Smyth made no mistake with.
It was now all out attack from the visitors and Froggatt had to be on the money to deny Jamie Hunt who turned and shot after good work from Joe Kenton and Hunt then had a shot deflected for a corner in the 85th minute. From the resulting corner Rocester broke and from one pass Oliver Broome was sent away down the left and he made no mistake slotting the ball home
