Tividale 6-0 Shifnal Town
Tividale put a Shift in to hammer Town
After a week of down’s upon down’s Tividale actually ended the week on a high.
As has been said last Saturday’s defeat was nothing in comparison to Harry Shaw passing away. But somewhere up there Harry would have been delighted with the way his beloved Tividale bossed the first half and were so clinical in the second.
With Liam Wilkinson still struggling with his groin. Manager Dave King switched Darragh Bustin to a central midfield role and put Jamal Fuller in at left back. Brad Welding came in for Tom Hurdman and Dan Bryson was back in place of Karl Gardner.
Tividale were on the front foot from the start and Welding brought out a fine save from Shifnal keeper Charlie Baker in the 5th minute and the keeper then saved from Dan Smith two minutes later.
Tividale did take the lead in the 11th minute a Shifnal long ball into the Tividale half was comfortably nodded down by Matt Hunt to Curtis Cocking and his raking pass fell beautifully for the forward moving Demetri Brown and the striker took a touch to bring the ball under control before arrowing his right foot shot across Baker and into the far corner of the net.
Shifnal had their first sight of goal in the 15th minute, but forward Ben Novis could not keep his shot down. They then had another chance a couple of minutes later. This time a ball whipped in and though Ryan Bright got the slightest of touches to it, it was not enough to cause Cheshire any problems.
For the majority of the half Tividale were camped in the Shifnal half but apart from the odd goal mouth scramble that ended in the Shifnal defence hacking clear and another fine save from Baker at the feet of Dan Smith, Tividale were struggling to break them down as they defended the edge of their penalty area. That was until stoppage time in the first half. When after some good work between Bustin and Brown the ball fell for Welding who from 25 yards unleashed a tracer bullet of a shot that grazed the inside of Brown’s right hand post and into the back of his net.
Half Time:-Tividale 2-0 Shifnal Town
The second half was much the same as the first half with Tividale probing but Shifnal defending well and it was actually the visitors that had the first chance of the half and their first chance on target when skipper Adrian Jones tried an effort from distance but it lacked any power and was comfortably saved by Cheshire. Tividale then stepped up the pressure and within 5 minutes they had three great chances to extend their lead. First Dan Smith was clean through but his shot was blocked and the rebound from Bustin was deflected wide. Three minutes later and Smith closed down and nicked the ball from a Shifnal defender and was through again but this time he fired wide and then on 59 minutes Bustin rolled the ball into Lee Smith but his shot went agonisingly wide of the post.
A minute later on the hour Brown was out wide on the right wing and seemingly no threat to the Shifnal’s goal but his cross was caught by the wind and it sailed over keeper Brown’s head and in at the far post to make it 3-0. On 63 minutes Shifnal’s Brown then made a great save with his legs to deny Tividale’s Brown.
Tividale were now rampant and on 74 minutes keeper Brown did brilliantly to turn another Welding effort that was heading for the bottom corner around the post. But on 77 minutes they conceded again substitute Alex Cameron won the ball and was clear through on goal but he unselfishly rolled the ball across the goal to Bustin to fire home. Three minutes later on 80 minutes, more defending errors let in Bustin and he returned the favour rolling in Cameron to side foot home. A minute later and another unenforced error to be credited to the hapless substitute Zac Vale left Bustin free to round keeper Brown and walk the ball into an empty net. Tividale could have got a 7th as the full of running Curtis Cocking crashed an effort off the crossbar with 5 minutes to go. But it stayed at 6-0 and now we move onto the second of our three home games against Dudley Sport.
