Tividale 4-0 Pegasus Juniors
Tividale put Pegasus to flight
Tividale put on another workmanlike performance as they closed out this game with a comfortable 4-0 win. Pegasus were dogged and hardworking but there host’s had to much for them all over the park.
Manager Dave King reverted back to his 5-3-2 formation and made 4 changes for this one, with Matt Hunt, Karl Gardner, Reece Shilvock and Harvey Walker coming in for Tom Hurdman, Jamal Fuller, Ben Birch and Lee Smith who were all named on the bench. Tividale took control of the game from the off and although the visitors did cause the home side some problems in the opening few minutes that was soon sorted after just 9 minutes. From a Tividale attack the ball found its way out to Hunt and his cross was headed home by an unmarked Dan Smith. Three minutes later and it was game over. Gardner’s through ball was nicely weighted for Smith to spring the Pegasus offside trap but as he headed towards goal, Pegasus keeper Brandon Powell mistimed his attempt to get to the ball and brought the striker down in the box. Up stepped Darragh Bustin and he sent Powell the wrong way. Smith had a great chance to extend the lead in the 19th minute but he fired over. He was then played in by Welding but Pegasus captain Kyle Pannierrs scrambled the ball clear.
Tividale had the ball in the net in the 33rd minute when Demetri Brown stroked home a Bustin pass but he was adjudged off side. Cuirtis Cocking then saw his shot saved by Powell in the 35th minute and two minutes later the young keeper turned a Smith volley onto the bar and over. Powell then denied Welding right on the stroke of half time
Half Time:- Pershore Town 0-2 Tividale
The second half was soon a case of normal service has resumed. On 48 minutes a Bustin corner was headed against the post by Shilvock and Powell saved Cockings follow up shot. Then on 51 minutes Powell was there again to palm away a Bustin cross as Brown came flying in at the back post. On 57 minutes it was the posts turn again to keep out Tividale as Smith smacked a Brown cross against the upright and over. Then on the hour mark Brown beat Powell to the ball but again could only watch as his shot came back off the post. 5 minutes later and Pegasus’s resilience was broken. Once again some great work from Brown down the Tividale right and his cross was met by Dan Smith who headed the ball back across Powell and into the net.
With Pegasus tiring Tividale took full advantage and on 71 minutes Welding cut in from the right and he hit another of his trademark curlers into the bottom right hand corner of Powell’s net with the keeper nowhere near it. Pegasus actually had their first chance of note in the 84th minute when Jake Tobin had a go from distance but it never threatened the Tividale goal. Tividale had the last chance but substitute Alex Cameron could not keep down his volley as he hooked it over the bar.
