Tividale 0-4 Haughmond
Haughmond puts Holes in home side
We have all had them. One of those days when nothing goes right and for Tividale Football Club this was one of them. From the 2nd to the 90th minute as much as the home side huffed and puffed the points were really only going one way, back with Haughmond.
For possibly the first time this season manager Dave King stuck with the same starting eleven that earned that win against Hereford Lads Club the week before.
After defending superbly to earn last weeks clean sheet. The way Tividale conceded the first goal after just 2 minutes was disappointing. Haughmond won themselves a corner on their right and Matt Fletcher’s low in swinger beat everyone in the box and nestled in the back of the Tividale net. The visitors had a great chance to go two up a couple of minutes later when a neat one two between strike partners Steve Hole and Scott Ryan resulted in the latter’s shot being well saved by Ryan Cheshire. Haughmond were now dominating the game and Kevin Renshaw had a shot that he dragged wide on 6 minutes.
Tividale’s first effort on goal came in the 10th minute, when Dan Smith tried a spectacular overhead kick that also went wide. On 20 minutes Smith brought the first save of the game from Haughmond keeper Sam Jones when he latched onto a neat lay off from Demetri Brown.
As Haughmond continued to boss the game, a long ball into the Tividale half had Tividale’s defence at 6’s and 7’s and Howe cashed in on the indecisiveness playing the ball to Ryan but his shot was blocked by Freddie Watts.
Half Time:- Tividale 0-1 Haughmond
Haughmond had the first chance of the 2nd half when Cheshire had to save a Joe Parry shot. Tividale had to make a substitution after 49 minutes when Liam Wilkinson had to go off with a hamstring pull. His replacement Reece Shilvock was straight into the action. When he let fly from Dan Smith’s neat lay off but Jones was equal to it.
On the hour Haughmond’s Kevin Renshaw saw his shot headed clear by Dan Bryson and then from a Carl Rogers long throw a flick on was brilliantly kept out by Cheshire. On 70 minutes Shilvock was once again denied by Jones. Two minutes later and Parry saw his shot hit the post with Cheshire beaten.
Tividale’s woes worsened when in the 73rd minute Dan Smith received his second yellow and Tividale were down to 10 men. Three minutes later they were also 2-0 down Ryan played the ball into Parry and his first time pass teed it up nicely for Hole to slide home. On 88 minutes Tividale defender Ben Birch brought down Haughmond sub Adam Knott in the penalty area and Holes found the back of the net from the spot. Seconds after the restart Haughmond themselves were down to 10 men when Charlie Musselwaite was shown a straight red card for a foul on Curtis Cocking. Cocking himself forced Jones into another good save when he beat away his shot. In injury time Hole netted his hattrick with a neat finish for the 4th Haughmond goal.
