Pegasus Juniors 0-3 Tividale
Juniors fail to Peg back Tivi
Tividale continued their unbeaten run with another hardworking performance this was not only against a resilient Pegasus side but both sides had to contend with what at times was gale force winds. But the three points and a 4th successive clean sheet made it all worthwhile.
Tividale welcomed back Ryan Cheshire in goal replacing Luke Kriskinans after missing the 8-0 midweek win and the only other change was a forced one with Reece Shilvock replacing Liam Wilkinson who was beginning a three match suspension for his red card against Dudley Town.
The visitors where on the front foot from the off and Demetri Brown saw his shot deflected for a corner after just 2 minutes. Darragh Bustin then went close with a free kick that fizzed past the upright. Bradley Welding’s corner on 11 minutes caused panic in the Pegasus defence but they were able to clear it for another one and this one ended with Ben Birch heading wide.
With Tividale doing all the early running, it was inevitable that the opening goal would come from them and it did on 32 minutes. Weldings through ball sliced through the Pegasus defence and despite being pulled back by his marker Dan Smith was able to let of his shot and he found the bottom corner to make it 1-0. Brown then headed wide from a Bustin corner on 42 minutes as Tividale dominated the half.
Half Time: Pegasus 0-1 Tividale
Pegasus were unlucky not to level the scores 4 minutes into the second half when a Lewis Clarke shot came back off the crossbar following a lovely build up and then they had another great chance a minute later but no Pegasus forward could get a touch on a wicked cross into the Tividale box. Pegasus were now having their best spell of the game and were being helped with a some sloppy play by the visitors. On 55 minutes Tividale gave the ball away while under no threat and Clarke pounced on the error but fired wide.
Welding then had another free kick well saved by the Pegasus keeper. But on 69 minutes he had no chance to deny Tividale’s second. A quick Welding throw-in deep into the home half found Lee Smith and his shot was cleared off the line but the ball fell to Shilvock on the edge of the Pegasus box and his shot took a slight deflection off a defenders head on it’s way into the roof of the net.
Tividale were now over their little wobble and were back into free playing mode and on 72 minutes the move of the game nearly made the score 3-0. Welding attacked the Pegasus penalty area, played the ball into Brown who back heeled it back to Welding who had continued his run but his shot hit the outside of the left post and out for a goal kick. Tividale sub Elliot Hartley then clipped a neat cross to Bustin at the back post but he fired wide.
With 5 minutes Tividale got their third goal. Hartley’s quick throw down the right found Welding. He got to the by-line before cutting the ball back to Hartley and his first time cross was met by Bustin and this time he made no mistake heading home Tividale’s third at the back post.
On the stroke of full time Brown had the chance of getting on the score sheet but his shot was well saved by the young Pegasus custodian
