Tividale 2-0 Bewdley Town

Tivi win despite spectacular Sidaway

Boss Dave King asked for a response after Saturday’s tired looking performance away at Malvern Town and he definitely go it as Tividale absolutely dominated the game and had it not been an inspired performance from Bewdley keeper Joe Sidaway this could have been a cricket score.

Once again there was the changes as King tried to freshen up the side with Karl Gardner, Dan Bryson and Demetri Brown brought in place of Ben Birch, Freddie Watts and Tyree Clarke

Tividale had the first decent chance on 8 minutes when after a pair of back heels from  Tom Hurdman and Dan Smith resulted in a Darragh Bustin shot that cleared Sidaway’s bar. From a 10th minute corner Bryson headed the ball into the danger area but Brown just could not a get touch on it.

Tividale took the lead on 15 minutes when Liam Wilkinson collected a pass from Bustin eased passed Bewdley skipper Aaron Stubbins, he then slipped the ball into Curtis Cocking who had made a run down the blind side of Ellis Stubbins and Cocking slid the ball between Sidaaway and his near post. Two minutes later and it should have been 2- 0. Tom Hurdman sent Brown away down the right flank and his cross was met by Dan Smith but his shot was saved at point blank range by Sideway. A minute later and it was Brown’s turn to be denied by Sidaway. Brown held the ball up and laid it off to Wilkinson who’s first time pass sent Brown away but the keeper came out bravely to ensure his shot went wide.

Bewdley’s first real threat on the home goal ended with them going 2-0 down Bryson cleared the Bewdley threat. Two Bewdley defenders went up for the ball resulting in the ball clipping off the head of the one and Brown was in one on one with Sidaway. This time though the forward got to the ball first, touched it past the keeper and with the angle getting more acute he clipped the ball into the back of the net. Tividale were now threatening to run riot and Brown was the main instigator. On 40 minutes his turn of pace left defender Sam Parmenter for dead but again Sidaway denied him.

Half Time: Tividale 2-0 Bewdley Town

Dan Smith had the first chance of the second half on 54 minutes when his shot was blocked by Parmenter. Then Sidaway saved a Wilkinson effort. Bustin then got through the Bewdley back lines on 66 minutes but his shot was blocked by Sidaway.

It was the 80th minute before Bewdley had their first shot that remotely troubled the home goal. But Simon Rudd’s shot sailed wide. Two minutes later Bustin was through again but sideway stood up to his attempted chip. Tividale sub Tyree Clarke was then put through by Bustin after he had intercepted a Bewdley pass but he shot straight at Sidaway. In the 85th minute Bewdley had their first shot on target when an Adam Pawson drive was turned over the bar by Ryan Cheshire. Deep into injury time Bewdley had the chance to cut the deficit when Bustin brought down a Bewdley forward in the penalty area. Luke Sidaway hit his shot low to Cheshire’s right but the keeper guessed right and turned it away.
