Tividale 6-0 Shawbury United
Shawn off in first half onslaught
Tividale produced in the first half a performance that was as good as you will see this season. From 1 to 11 they were dominant in all departments.
Boss Dave King made just the one change to the side who battled their way to that 3-2 win at Haughmond in midweek. With Ben Birch unavailable, Karl Gardner came into the back three.
As they did in midweek Tividale started like a house on fire and were ahead after just 2 minutes. In a goal identical to the opener on Tuesday. Darragh Bustin’s quick throw found Dan Smith in enough space to steady himself and place the ball past keeper Tom Delamare. On 8 minutes it took a fine save from Delamare to keep Bustin off the score sheet when he cut in from the left wing from a Freddie Watts pass but his shot was saved.
Tividale were 2-0 up on 15 minutes. This time Shawbury failed to clear a Bustin long throw and it fell nicely for Demetri Brown to hammer home. Up to this point Shawbury were causing some problems of their own and defensively Tividale had to be on their toes. But on 23 minutes they showed their ruthless streak. A Shawbury attack broke down on the edge of the Tividale box and Liam Wilkinson swept the ball out right to Tom Hurdman, he then played the ball into Brown who laid it off to strike partner Dan Smith and his shot went under Delamare and into the net.
The visitors had their first shot at goal on 25 minutes from Joe Delacoe but it sailed over Cheshire’s head and Tividale’s cross bar. But it was 4-0 on 31 minutes and again it was just too easy. Wilkinson fires a pass out wide to Bustin who after he cut inside his marker was one on one with Delamare and as the hapless keeper came out towards him Bustin coolly chipped the ball over him. Tividale were now all over the visitors and were trying their luck from everywhere. Lee Smith’s rocket on 33 minutes skimmed the cross bar with Delamare a bystander. Then a neat flick from Brown found Wilkinson running through from midfield and he turned the ball home but he had made his run to early for the assistant and was flagged off side.
The 42nd minute brought Shawbury’s first shot on target. Full back Liam Taylor broke into some space but his shot was comfortably saved by Cheshire. Just as you thought that Shawbury could see out the half without further damage. They again gave the ball away on the edge of their penalty area and Brown was left one on one with Delamare and next thing the dejected keeper is picking the ball out of his net for the 5th time.
Half Time:- Tividale 5-0 Shawbury United
The second half as expected would be a much tighter affair with Shawbury now turning to damage limitation and it was actually the visitors who had the first worthwhile shot of the second half, when Jack Hickman forced Cheshire into a save. It was not until the 66th minute when Tividale had their first chance of the second half, a Brown shot that Delamare saved. Tividale substitute Tyree Clarke then caught out the Shawbury defence with a neat turn but fired into the side netting on 73 minutes, and then fellow sub Jake Brigdale did well after being found by a Bustin pass in the 78th minute but Delamare did well to block his shot.
Tividale did get on the second half score sheet in the 81st minute when Wilkinson went on a slalom like run beating 4 players he then played a one two with Clarke before dragging the ball back for Clarke to clip home and finish off the scoring
