Stone Old Alleynians 0-2 Tividale
Stone turned over
Tividale bounced back from their poor FA Vase display with a dominant performance against a gutsy Stone side who were always in this game right up to the 84th minute when Tividale made the game safe.
Tividale dominated possession from the off but it was not until the 25th minute when they had their first effort on goal, when Chris Bladen literally bullied his way through the Stone defence and slid the ball past keeper Cameron Bliss to put the visitors 1-0 up. Tividale had the ball in the net 10 minutes later when after some good work from Nathan Jones ended with a neat ball into Bladen but the assistant’s flag as Bladen tucked the ball in the back of the net.
Half-time: Stone Old Alleynians 0-1 Tividale
As in the first half the visitors had all the possession but just could not turn it into chances or goals. And the warning signs that Stone would make Tividale pay was always there and on 10 minutes Stone had their first and best chance of the match when Jack Tomlinson was allowed to get a shot in on goal but he put his effort over the bar. Four minutes later and the visitors had another great chance when Jones coasted into the Stone area, placed the ball wide of Bliss but it was hacked off the line. On 64 minutes Jones was again through but this time Bliss was equal to his shot. Bladen had an identical chance to the one that he scored from in the first half on 67 minutes when he was put through by Darragh Bustin. But this time after doing all the hard work he rolled the ball agonisingly the wrong side of the upright.
On 69 minutes Tividale substitute Elliott Hartley brought a superb save out of Bliss when he touched over the wide-mans blistering drive. But with four minutes to go Bliss had no chance when Hartley’s left wing cross left Tyree Clarke with an easy tap in to make the points safe.
