THE FACTS
West Midland Regional League
Tividale FC v Pegasus Juniors FC
Saturday 2nd March 2019
Kick off at 3.00pm
After the high’s of reaching the Birmingham Floodlit Cup final in midweek, (which will be our first since 2015 when we met Stone Old Alleynians at the Molineux in the JW Hunt Cup). This game is just what we need to get us back to earth. Because regardless of how many cup finals we get to this season. We would give them all up for the West Midland League Premier title or at least second place and promotion by PPG (points per games).
As we have stated previously maybe we have not been as free flowing with the goals for column but we have been utterly miserly in the goals against and that is what is getting us over the line in games at the moment.
Our visitors have struggled at both ends of the pitch this season. Scoring the least league goals in the division and only 2 sides have conceded more and the is reflected in their league position. But on their day they are capable of turning over any side.
THE HISTORY
The three times we have met Pegasus have all ended in wins to us. But they have made us work for our successes and we can expect nothing different this time around.
The away fixture this season was remembered by the swirling and at times gale force winds, that got so bad that the goal kicks were clearing the penalty area only for the ball to catch the wind and literally come back to the keeper. But goals from Dan Smith, Reece Shilvock and Darragh Bustin in a 3-0 meant the points came back with Tividale.
Last season goals from Chris Bladen, Darragh Bustin, Dan Smith and a Pegasus own goal meant Tividale ran out 4-0 winners at The Beeches after Pegasus had held us to 0-0 at the break.
Once again the trip to Hereford proved to a real toughie and Tividale just got the best of three goals. Demetri Brown getting the winner after Nick Panniers had cancelled out Tyree Clarke’s opener from the penalty spot.
