Helllooo and welcome to this week’s edition of From Communications Corner!
First and foremost, as I said on our @TiviFCofficial Twitter page on Tuesday, I’d like to thank everyone here at Tividale Football & Social Club from the committee, to the football staff and the social club members for their support towards me, particularly over the past week.
My grandad passed away in the early hours of Tuesday morning, and although it’s naturally upset me, he’s in a better place now and if I live until I’m 91, I’ll be more than happy!
Having said that, like Leon Murray said, I work @TiviFCofficial, so reaching 51 will be a bonus ๐
My passion for football, the intensity I work at, and the desire to win all comes from my Grandad and my Dad. They brought me up in a footballing environment, we travelled across the UK and beyond to watch West Bromwich Albion as a trio. I was just 3 years old when I had my first season ticket at The Hawthorns. Football is our life.
One member of Tividale Football & Social Club in particular can vouch for the relationship I held with him, particularly when he lived at home up until 2012.
She’d say: “Steven’s football crazy, pacing around the back garden talking rubbish for two hours after every game.”
Anyway, it was still great to attend our EVO-STIK Northern Premier League, First Division South fixture against Basford United on Tuesday night.
Basford has the better of the opening period, but we had our chances to level before the break, too. But second half we were much, much better with the ball and caused them problems. We deserved at least a point and it was a fine strike by Lewis Wright.
On another night we probably would have won.
So to Saturday, and Stocksbridge Park Steels away. This is one game I can’t afford to lose, as I will never hear the end of it!
As things stand, I will be staying in Stocksbridge after the game until Sunday morning, so if you’re on the coach on Saturday morning, then sit next to me on the way there! You will be able to have a lie down on the way back ๐
It was a great day up at Stocksbridge last season, and I’m sure we will take a good following of supporters this weekend to get behind the team.
Walking football. Never heard of it? Well this Sunday is your chance to play at Tividale Football & Social Club from 14:00. I’ve been roped in, as have all the committee. A number of members are also taking part so get your name down!
It should be a good day!
Were you in the club last Saturday evening? I thought it was a great night. Karaoke was order of the day and we had some good singers on the night. Apart from me with my rendition of Mark Owen’s Four Minute Warning.
I think you will be wanting a Four Minute Warning next time that I’m about to take to the stage ๐
Right, I think that’s about that. Like I say, we can’t afford to lose Saturday. Manchester Rd, Stocksbridge, needs to be extremely quiet on Saturday night with me having a smirk on my face ๐
See you at the bar, Submariners!
Steven.
