Another week? Really? Good grief! We’re already in March and the light nights are returning….finally! 🙂
It’s been another manic seven days here at Tividale Football & Social Club, for sure.
On the field, I know Ian Long was a little disappointed with the performance at Goole last weekend but we’ve only suffered two defeats since Christmas and that needs to be put into context.
The day out at Goole had its highlight before the team coach even arrived at the ground. Are you sitting down?
Coach driver Bill, who has had sign writing on the passenger side of his 52 seater to reflect it’s our First Team Coach, had difficulty finding a road wide enough to get to the main entrance of Goole’s stadium.
Up steps Andrew Parsons….
I quote “Hey mate, how’d ya get to Goole?”
Local resident responds “You’re already in Goole!”…..
Sorry Parso, I just had to mention it….:)
On another day, we’d have probably come away with a point but late drama led to a penalty for the home side. Sound familar?
Yes, that brings me onto Tuesday evening.
Great attendance in the social club by all accounts for the £2 per pint offer for members and plenty of banter was flying around the place regarding the Aston Villa/West Bromwich Albion game – particularly from ‘Billy’ (Chris Walwyn, Goalkeeping Coach).
‘Billy’ is a Villa fan so we’ll allow him to have his chuckle or two until we play them again on Saturday!
I was at Villa Park and it was a terrific atmosphere; a great advert for Midlands Football and credit to Aston Villa for a good three points.
As I mentioned above, Saturday brings Aston Villa/West Bromwich Albion ‘Round 2’.
Of course, the two sides meet again for the massive FA Cup Quarter-Final tie at Villa Park which we will be screening Live at Tividale Football & Social Club as part of ‘SHOWDOWN SATURDAY’ (BBC One 17:30) following Tivi’s home fixture with Rainworth Miners Welfare.
You can find all the details of the Live Football & Entertainment this Saturday here on tividalefc.com and our Twitter page, @TiviFCofficial.
From a ground improvement perspective, we’re hoping to make strides this coming weekend with several aspects of the work we will be undertaking this month.
We’re all looking forward to another season in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League and we’re all pulling together to ensure that we’re ready for the 2015-16 campaign.
Academy wise, Keith Thompson (Academy Director) held meetings with prospective Managers/Coaches for all age groups ahead of next season at the back end of last week and I know that Keith was very impressed with some of the candidates that attended Tividale Football & Social Club for those discussions.
Secondly, @tiviacademy will be running another Football Camp at Ormiston Academy during the Easter Holidays. Full details regarding that event will be posted on tividalefc.com, @TiviFCofficial and our Facebook page in due course.
Finally, our very own Chris Dudley is hosting the return of Sunday Night Bingo this weekend at 21:00 – feel free to join us for the fun!
See you at the bar, Submariners!
Steven.
