Hellloo and welcome to this week’s edition of From Communications Corner!

Well it’s been a good week for Tividale Football & Social Club, has it not?

Monday was a great day for this football club, and a day that I’ve been striving for since the day I joined Tividale last November.

Our announcement of Buildbase as our new principal sponsor will have sent a clear message out to everyone – we’re not here ‘playing games’; we’re here to compete in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League, Division One South.

The deal with Buildbase had been on the agenda for several weeks and we’d been negotiating regularly.

But Monday of last week was when I first felt we would 100% get the two-year deal over the line, and we’d signed and sealed the paperwork by Wednesday evening.

Longevity is the key with sponsorship deals, and you need to build strong working relationships. I highlighted the Grafton Group as my preferred choice, as they’ve a track record of excellent relations within sports sponsorship.

Buildbase were principal sponsor of Oxford United for nine seasons, culminating in Oxford’s promotion back to the Football League.

Motorsport is another area Buildbase focus on with sponsorship. They are the title sponsor of Buildbase BMW Motorrad British Superbike team and the Coventry Buildbase Bees Speedway team in the Elite League.

These are big, lucrative deals, and there’s an expectation of success. That expectation is now fully on Tividale Football & Social Club, too, and quite rightly so.

They’ve been a pleasure to deal with and they are taking this deal very seriously. Buildbase’s Managing Director Kate Tinsley has been very supportive, and I look forward to meeting their hierarchy in due course.

Robert Cherryholme has also been a key factor in the process, and he’ll be holding a meeting with me in the coming weeks to ensure that our relationship is a successful one.

All in all, it’s a great deal, and who will have a better brand on their shirts or as principal sponsor at this level?

I’m delighted to get the ‘big’ deal over the line – it’s taken a lot of hard work and persistence but I always promised people that we’d get there in the end.

Away from football and the Tividale Summer Festival takes place next Saturday, June 27th. Full details will be on tividalefc.com shortly regarding that event.

There’s a charity quiz taking place tonight (Thursday) in the social club to raise funds for ‘TEAM MAX’. The quiz is being hosted by Leon Murray, who’s deputising for the rather unwell Richard Harrison. Pair of them have been in the wars lately, as has Sally Webb.

Need one good reason to attend tonight? It surely has to be watching Leon on stage in control of the evening’s events? 🙂

Finally, I’d like to say a big well done to ‘TEAM MAX’ who climbed Snowdon last weekend. I was in the final throes of sealing the paperwork with Buildbase but you’re all a massive credit to both Maxine Smith and Tividale Football & Social Club.

See you at the bar with Goudgey, Submariners!

Steven.
