Well what a few days it’s been!

As you may have seen elsewhere, myself, Leon Murray and Chris Dudley made our way down to Wembley Stadium on Tuesday for our appeal hearing to contest an initial decision to reject our application for Ground Grading (Grade D Specification) following the final inspection on Wednesday, April 1st.

I know that people were really happy with the outcome when we arrived back from North London but there’s still an awful long way to go before we’re over the line, and the Independent Inspection will now determine our fate.

There’s no return from that decision, there’s no means of appeal this time around.

Whatever the outcome, I’m extremely proud of the way we’ve tackled the Ground Grading Specification, and I’m sure you are, too.

It’s been an extremely tough few months. Decisions haven’t been taken lightly, and we’ve always put the long-term future of Tividale Football & Social Club first.

It’s not just about football, it’s about maintaining the infrastructure of the business.

We’ve always taken everything into account, and that is 100% the way any business should be run.

I hope we get the green light, and I’d like to thank everyone for their assistance and time with this project, including local Councillor, Maria Crompton.

It’s not easy, believe me, and sometimes you wonder “when is this going to end?”

On the field, we played very well on Tuesday evening against Spalding United and were extremely unlucky not to take all three points in the end.

One of the points I made at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday is that you’ve got to give great credit to this group of players.

The uncertainty surrounding the Ground Grading could have easily had an adverse effect on our on pitch performance but that’s now twelve games unbeaten in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League, Division One South.

That’s testament to the professionalism of Manager, Ian Long, the coaching staff and the players. Fantastic effort.

Hopefully the form will continue in tonight’s JW Hunt Cup Quarter-Final tie when we entertain Sporting Khalsa (KO 19:45).

Away from football, and we’ll be bringing you full details of our Tividale Summer Festival very soon.

Treasurer Richard Harrison held another productive meeting with Councillor Ian Cooper yesterday and I’m expecting the event to be a real success, just as it was last year.

It’s now time to apologise to Terri Wood after originally being ill informed that she celebrated her 30th Birthday a fortnight ago!

She sent me a message saying “Steven, you’re in BIIGGGGG trouble.”

I had a suspicion she was younger than myself, and she’s 27, so my apologies, Terri ๐Ÿ™‚

In the social club this weekend, and Karaoke returns from 20:00. And, yes, I will be returning with another rendition of Deacon Blue, for sure ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ll just have to make sure that myself, Wayne Mundon and Ian Long don’t hit the Sherry too early ๐Ÿ™‚

See you at the bar, Submariners!

Steven.
