JORDAN Archer has called on his Tividale teammates not to allow Saturday’s last minute defeat at Newcastle Town affect their mindset ahead of the home clash with Romulus this weekend.
Archer, 21, scored ‘Dale’s equaliser after getting the final touch from a Nigel Penney corner and the former Tipton Town forward says Tividale should be proud of their second half display in Staffordshire.
He said “It was hard to take but that’s football.
“Newcastle are an excellent side and they are top of the league following Saturday’s results.
“We can’t get downhearted because we were the better side throughout the second half.”
Ian Long’s side have taken 10 points from their last five games and Archer feels there is much more to come from them between now and the end of the season.
“We are playing well.
“The festive period was good for us and we had some momentum coming into the new year but the weather hasn’t helped our cause where that’s concerned.
“When you’re on a good run of form you want to be playing as much as possible but circumstances have dictated otherwise.”
And Archer, who turned down interest from Redditch United prior to Christmas is pleased he decided to remain at The Beeches following talks with Tivi boss Ian Long and Assistant Manager Richard Colwell back in December.
“I really like it here.
“My season was hindered when I broke my toe but I’m feeling good again.
“It’s always nice when your ability is recognised but I want to play my football here, score goals and win football matches.
“We are a good side with plenty to build on for next year and beyond.”
