Tividale slide out the Vase

Tividale bowed out of this seasons FA Vase with a disappointing 4-1 defeat at Malvern Town of the West Midland Regional League.

Tividale took the lead on the first threat on goal in the 7th minute when Daniel Smith collected a Lewis McPike cross in the area turned and fired his shot past Malvern keeper Charlie Weaver and into the net.

Instead of using the early goal as something to build on some nervy play by the visitors allowed Malvern to build up a head of steam and Tividale keeper Luke Kriskinans had to be alert and tip over a Dave Reynolds shot on 21 minutes. From the resulting corner Tividale had chances to clear but failed to and Nathan Hughes sweeps the ball home for the Malvern equaliser.

Malvern were now getting the freedom of the park by Tividale and Reynolds should have done better on 26 minutes but he got his shot all wrong and it went wide. Two minutes later Kriskinans had to produce a great save to deny Lewis Platt from close range. Tividale were now looking distinctly second best in this game and could count themselves fortunate to not being behind at the break.

More pressure from Malvern at the start of the half and Reynolds again fires wide on 53 minutes. On 71 minutes Malvern doubled their lead when Reynolds played in substitute Matt Turner who had the freedom of the Tividale area and he slipped the ball past Kriskinans and into the net. Tividale had a chance to draw level when Weaver saved well from Luke Morris. On 74 minutes it was 3-1 when Dene Whittall-Williams cashed in on some poor defending and stabbed the ball home.

Tividale’s day got even worse when midfielder Jamie Hunt was shown a second yellow for a foul on 77 minutes and in the 90th minute Sean Smith completed the scoring when his lob went in off the underside of the crossbar.
