Hello and welcome to my new weekly column called Captain’s Corner with yours truly, Craig Milligan.

Steven has been pressuring me for the past week or so to do a weekly column – I think he needs some decent jokes rather than the tedious ones he manages to bring out of the woodwork on From Communications Corner every Thursday 🙂

Well at least the first game is out of the way. As a player you spend pre season working hard putting in shift after shift to reach the season, and to be honest it all goes out of the window on that first game through adrenaline and a willingness to do well.

Shaw Lane were a great side and will do well this season for sure, but personally I thought we came out of the game with many positives.

Chris Rabone took his goal brilliantly, and the two centre backs, Jesse (Race) and Jacob (Barnes), had great games given the pressure the were under for long periods of the match.

We have had a great week leading up to the first game with some off the field antics helping create the “togetherness” every team needs.

We are a new bunch but have some great characters in the dressing room. The players fines have started and already there are some lads who are struggling with the concept of parting with their money. I must say though they look amazing in their girly gear!

Thursday’s pool tournament left a bit to be desired, there were a few lads who could talk the talk but to be honest I don’t think they had played a game in their lives…apart from Charles, he even had the outfit of a snooker player 🙂

Back to the field and at the time of writing we’d yet to play last night’s game at Newcastle Town, hopefully by the time you read this we will have got off the mark on the league table.

Craig.
