Hello everyone and welcome to this week’s edition of From Communications Corner!
Well it’s here, folks! Season opener is this weekend against Shaw Lane Aquaforce in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League, Division One South at The Beeches and frankly, I can’t wait!
It’s been a tough summer for all of us, and it’s now time for the football to do the talking. I can’t compliment Ross Thorpe and Phil Male enough for the tireless work they’ve put in since being appointed to the Club.
They were handed a thankless task, make no bones about it! I think it’s fair to say that having a bag of balls, a kitman, a physio, a set of cones and me and Leon was not an ideal situation to find themselves in on Day One.
But they’ve done very, very well, and they have put together a good squad of players that hopefully will consolidate themselves this season.
Due to the age of the players within the squad, there’s potential for longevity and a consistent line-up for seasons to come. I know football isn’t as simple as that, but this group of players are already showing a togetherness that we can build on moving forward.
I was impressed with our performance at Halesowen last weekend in the final pre-season friendly, particularly in the first half. I thought we created some very good opportunities, our wide players were very effective, and Demetri Brown looked very lively up front.
Obviously the game was brought to a premature end following the nasty collision between the Halesowen goalkeeper and Joel Ayettey.
I’m pleased to report that Joel is doing okay, as there was much concern about him when the incident initially took place. Joel will be following medical advice accordingly which is standard protocol, of course.
It was great to see the team playing in our new Buildbase red away kit, and the new design and colour seems to be very popular. You can purchase a shirt from our online club shop here on tividalefc.com, likewise with the traditional yellow home shirts.
Away from the field and a brief reminder that the AGM for Tividale Football & Social Club on Thursday, August 20th at 19:30. It’s always good to get all of the social club members together because we can gather people’s thoughts and opinions and work on them in the future. I look forward to seeing you on the night.
It was good to see Mr. Dave Evans in a more suitable state this Sunday just gone, as he wasn’t in the best frame of mind the weekend prior following his big night out in Wednesbury.
And finally I look forward to this coming Saturday night as we have a great night of entertainment for you all, and details of that will be on tividalefc.com later this week.
See you at the bar, Submariners, and please come down to cheer on the lads on Saturday!
Steven.
