Congratulations to our under-12s academy who entered three sides into the Penn Colts 5-A-Side Tournament last weekend, and arrived with high hopes.  A total of 24 teams entered the tournament, and all three of the Tivi sides reached the quarter final stage.  The players from all three sides are in the main picture, above.

Tividale ‘B’ with the trophy

It was the Tividale ‘B’ side who came through as eventual champions, winning all five of their group-stage games and only conceding one goal on the way. In the quarter finals they triumphed against ‘Tividale A’, before a semi-final victory over Withymoor landed the lads a place in the grand final against Droitwich Spa.  Our little yellow submariners raced into a 3-0 lead before conceding only their second goal of the tournament to win the final 3-1.

Coach Steve Parsons said “We’d like to thank Penn Colts for what was a very well organised day, and also thank the lads’ parents for their unending support.   Everyone can be very proud of the great day we had”.   Head coach Wayne Mundon echoed the praise, and added “All three coaches on the day – Steve Parsons, Tony Williams and Dave Simon – did a fantastic job with the players, but most of all we’d like to thank the lads themselves, who were supportive of each others teams, chanting for their mates while they weren’t playing in their own games.  It was a great day.”

Supporters of the Tividale first team will know all about the singing voices of the Under-12s, as it was them who provided a lot of the noise at the recent JW Hunt Cup final at Molineux. It’s no surprise that their togetherness and keenness brings rewards.

Well done to all of the players who took part in the competition.
