Another week, and another seven days full of plenty to think about!
As you’re probably aware, Manager Ian Long handed in his resignation last Thursday evening and will be taking over the reins at Alvechurch for the 2015-16 season.
Assistant Manager Richard Colwell, First Team Coach Richard Upton and Goalkeeping Coach Chris ‘Billy’ Walwyn will also leave us once the JW Hunt Cup Final has been played against Stone Old Alleynians next Thursday evening at Molineux.
I wish Ian and his team the very best of luck for the future, they’ve been a pleasure to work with, and played a massive part in bringing me to the Club last year. I will always appreciate the way they integrated me into the group.
Talking of Molineux, tickets are still available for the game next Thursday night in the Social Club. Ticket price is £4.
So that leads me to the future, and Leon and myself have spoken with a number of candidates for the Manager position over the past five days, and I’m extremely positive we can get the right deal for the Club done.
These matters can be protracted, and we need to make the correct decision when we appoint because as I said on our official statement last weekend, the second season at any level of football is always the most difficult.
I attended the Chairman’s Meeting for the Northern Premier League at Edgeley Park yesterday, and I sat there thinking “Steven, the season is closer than you think.”
Away from football, and Richard Harrison is presenting a Murder & Crime Quiz in the Social Club tonight (Thursday) at 20:30.
I could murder a cup of coffee, to be fair. And no, Julia Sorrow has still yet to put the kettle on! Just a brief mention of the Coffee Morning she’s running as part of ‘TEAM MAX’, and that takes place on a Tuesday from 09:30. Click here for details
