MARK Smith insists Tivi have nothing to fear when they travel to fifth placed Spalding Town tomorrow (KO 15:00).

Smith was in contention to replace the unavailable Luke Paskin against Romulus last weekend only for the fixture to be postponed and the 29 year old says ‘Dale have been left frustrated by the weather and their stop-start programme.

He said “We are all just looking forward to getting back on the pitch and playing because it’s been a tough few weeks.

“It’s a tough fixture and they have a good home record but we know we can go to places like that and pick up points.

“It was really frustrating last weekend because up until the snow on Friday night, the pitch was looking in good condition.”

The former Halesowen Town defender has made 23 appearances so far this season and is pushing for a recall to Ian Long’s starting eleven having suffered one or two injuries.

“Im 100% fit and ready to play.

“I had a couple of niggles and was missing for a game or two but that’s football.

“We have great competition for places in the defensive areas and it’s down to me to force my way back ahead of Luke (Paskin) and Richard (Huckfield).”

Tivi held a Football Quiz last tonight at The Beeches that was arranged by boss Ian Long and Smith says it was a great evening.

He added “It was a fun night and credit to the manager for organising it all.

“We have a great team spirit here and we enjoy spending time together after games and training sessions week in, week out.

“Everybody enjoyed the evening but our focus is now on tomorrow’s game.”
