On the freezing afternoon of Tuesday 30th December the squad, management, parents and supporters travelled to Evesham FC to take part in the 9 a side floodlight tournament. Eight teams in total participated with 4 teams drawn in each group. Tividale were drawn with Littleton, Worcester Colts and Evesham and we were to play each team in 20 minutes games with the top two going through to the semi finals.

Tividale’s first game was against Littleton and we never really looked troubled as we won the game comfortably 3-0. The second game saw us play Worcester Colts in a much more even contest that finished 0-0; Tividale did have a penalty saved in this one but a draw was a fair result after the 20 minutes was up. In the last game we played hosts Evesham and we knew that if we won by 4 goals we would top the group and Tividale really turned on the style with an emphatic 10-0 win! This put us top of the group and gave us a semi final tie against Bewdley Town.

We knew Bewdley would be a difficult game as they are a top team in the Stourbridge league with a 100% league record but we were up for it having scored 13 goals without conceding in the group games.

In a tight, nail biting game Tividale ran out 1-0 winners and booked their place in the final!

The final saw us once again face Worcester Colts and after the first game we knew this could go either way.

Tividale bossed this game from the start and were 2-0 up with 5 minutes remaining but two late goals saw it go into extra time. The officials decided on a golden goal with pens if not decided after 10 minutes and Worcester got the goal with just 20 seconds remaining to break Tividale hearts.

A disappointing end for the lads but a fantastic effort in which they did themselves, and everyone, proud!
