THE FACTS
West Midland Regional League
Tividale FC v Dudley Sports FC
Saturday 23rd March 2019
Kick off at 3.00pm
This week’s we at Tividale FC could have well done without. After last Saturday’s defeat at Wellington we woke up on Sunday morning to the news that Tividale football’s last pioneer and one of our staunchest ambassador’s, contributors, supporters and honorary life member Harry Shaw had passed away at the age of 93 and for this game we will have a full tribute to him.
Regardless of the final score (although the 6 goals and clean sheet was nice) it was the performance last Saturday that stood out. It was more like the pre Christmas Tividale as we dominated in all aspects of the game.
Today our visitors led by the non league legend Tony “Sweeney” Gore arrive at The Beeches on the back of a tremendous 2-0 win over our conqueror’s from the week before Wellington. They have only one league defeat in their last 6 and reached the other semi final of the Birmingham Floodlit Cup falling to a 2-0 defeat against our final opponents Atherstone Town. So once again there are no easy points on offer here for us. But if we play to the level that we can do it will be a difficult afternoon for our visitors
THE HISTORY
Our away fixture against Dudley Sports back in December ended in a comfortable 5-1 win with Darragh Bustin brilliant free kick See the goal on Tividale’s twitter feed here , Rion Francis Mills Demetri Brown, Dan Bryson and Alex Cameron the Tividale scorers. While Emile Beckford scored sports consolation.
In the 2017-2018 season Tividale completed the double of their local rivals. The first was a hard earned three points at Sports’s High Ercal ground. Tividale were 2-0 up at half time through two Dan Smith goals but Sports were always in it and Romano Graham goal with 15 minutes to go made it a nervy last 15 minutes but the visitors held out.
The fixture at The Beeches was a different matter as the home side ran out 6-2 winners. Two goals apiece for Bustin and Dan Smith and one each for Brown and Hartley put them in charge. A Keiron Price penalty and a Ronnee Hendricks strike were Sport’s scorers.
