- THE FACTS
West Midland Regional League
Pershore Town 88 FC v Tividale FC
Saturday 23rd February 2019
Kick off at 3.00pm
Tividale are back on the road for this West Midland Regional fixture and it takes us to Pershore Town 88, who along with Malvern Town are the 2 clubs from the county of Worcestershire in the division.
Last weeks epic game against Malvern Town saw us get back to some sort of form and we will be hoping to continue this form against a side who although they are still languishing in the bottom two are on a mid table run of 3 wins and 3 losses in their last 6 league games. All this has come after appointing ex Malvern Town boss Les Jones who’s knowledge of this league may just be enough to keep them in the Premier Division for next season.
THE HISTORY
Pershore were moved into the WMRL Premier after one of the FA’s now famous “lateral movements” at the end of last season. Which means that the FA can move a club between leagues at the same Step level in the National League System. So after playing in the Midland Football League in the 2017-18 season. The FA decided they would play in the WMRL in the 2018-19 season.
Due to playing in different leagues in the past. The meeting last October here at The Beeches was the only league game anyone at Tividale can remember.
The game came at the start of Les Jones’s tenure and it was also a very poignant one for us at Tividale because before the game kicked off there was a minutes applause to recognise the 12 months pain free of young Maddie Box Poole who passed away on the 27th October 2017 from the terrible Battens disease.
The match itself ended in a comfortable Tividale win. The home side were 4-0 up at half time and ended up 6-0 winners. Darragh Bustin scored two penalties in his hattrick, Demetri Brown scored 2 and there was a rare Matt Hunt goal.
