Tividale 6-1 Shifnal Town

Tividale Shif 6 past Town

This game was a chance to get the midweek performance out of their system against a Shifnal side that were low on confidence and had not won in their last  6 games.

Manager Dave King reverted to the back three after going for a flat back four on Tuesday night, with Joe Colley joining Dan Bryson and Karl Gardner in the three. With Dan Smith unavailable Demetri Brown paired up with Tyree Clarke up front and Liam Wilkinson dropped into the midfield position vacated by Colley.

Maybe it was a sign of things to come when the home side were ahead in under 2 minutes, as the Shifnal defence had no answer to the pace of Brown and his pass found Clarke and he beat Shifnal keeper Jake James with a neat strike.  Although a goal down so early, Shifnal were determined not to roll over, and on 7 minutes they had a great chance when Toby Lumbard worked himself some space on the edge of the Tividale box and played in Ryan Bright, but Bright’s shot was blocked by the Tividale defence.

Still Shifnal pressed and on 8 minutes they got their reward. They won a free kick on their wide right and Brandon Taylor whipped it in and skipper George Williams had the final touch to put them level.  Shifnal tried to take the game to the took the game to the home side but they always looked although they would concede. On the other hand Tividale looked like they could score on every attack and were guilty of missing a number of chances. They eventually regained the lead on 28 minutes. Brown played in Darragh Bustin but his shot was well saved. Tividale then regained possession and fed it out to Liam Wilkinson just outside the area who hit a top corner thunderbolt that had goal all over it as soon as it left his boot.

Shifnal had the final chance of the half when Lumbard again worked himself into a shooting chance one which Ryan Cheshire turned around the post for a corner.

Half-time:-Tividale 2-1 Shifnal Town

Within four second half minutes the game was over as a contest. First on 47 minutes a right sided Joe Lawley free kick was met by Brown, his header cannoned off the upright but Clarke was the first to react tuning in the rebound. Then two minutes later it was 4-1. Bustin was sent away down the left flank and his cross was met on the volley by Brown who left James to pick the ball out of the back of the net.

Tividale were now rampant and should have added more to their tally but were still a little wasteful in front of goal. Shifnal themselves did have a couple of second half chances with Ryan Hadley the architect of most them. First he fired over from a decent position and then he was involved which ended with a Joe Delacoe cross that Sam Morris headed wide.

Tividale made a triple substitution on 70 minutes bringing on Elliot Hartley, Nathan Jones and Harvey Walker for Colley, Lawley and Clarke. On 75 minutes the subs combined for the next chance, Hartley played in Jones but his shot was well saved by James.

Tividale went 5-1 up on 81 minutes when Brown beat the offside trap rounded the keeper and passed the ball into the back of the net. The last goal of the game went to Bustin in the 89th minute. After a selfless display at left wing back, he was switched to the right side and in the 89th minute he was on the end of a low Brown cross, side footing the ball home.
